The Department of Entrepreneurial Studies at Veritas University Abuja was established as part of the University’s second phase development strategy. It was initially created under the Department of Business Administration in the College of Management Sciences to offer a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Entrepreneurship, following Senate approval at its 32nd Senate Meeting on January 31, 2013. The Department later became a fully independent academic department after approval at the 59th Senate Meeting held on March 31, 2016. The Department is grounded in the University’s mission of providing integrated and holistic formation of students while advancing knowledge in the service of God and society based on Catholic principles. It is committed to developing entrepreneurial, innovative, and research-oriented graduates who are equipped to become job creators, business leaders, and contributors to national and global economic development. The Department currently offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including B.Sc. Entrepreneurship, M.Sc. Entrepreneurship, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Entrepreneurship, alongside the Entrepreneurship Development Centre. These programmes are structured in line with the Benchmark and Minimum Academic Standards (BMAS) of the National Universities Commission (NUC), as well as the requirements of relevant professional bodies and the Institute of Entrepreneurs. The academic programmes are designed to equip students with practical entrepreneurial skills, leadership abilities, and research competencies necessary for independent enterprise development, innovation, and corporate leadership. The Department particularly emphasizes the development of high-level manpower capable of conducting research, driving economic growth, and making meaningful contributions in both the public and private sectors at national and international levels.
