About the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS)
The School of Postgraduate Studies at Veritas University began as the College of Postgraduate Studies in 2013 following Senate approval. It transitioned to its current structure in 2019. Since the 2014/2015 academic session, the SPGS has expanded its academic offerings with continued accreditation and verification by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
SPGS emphasizes innovation, problem-based research, and flexibility in program delivery. It responds to society’s human capital needs through high-quality postgraduate education aligned with national standards.
Requirements for Award of Degree
- Minimum CGPA of 3.0 for graduation eligibility.
- All courses and exams are externally moderated.
- Supervision involves a team for interdisciplinary coverage.
- Unsatisfactory research may lead to withdrawal.
- Dissertations submitted two months before Convocation.
- Six temporarily bound copies submitted for defence.
- Post-defence: four corrected bound copies submitted.
- Board of Examiners includes supervisors, external examiner, and SPGS rep.
- Successful oral defence is mandatory.
- Absence for two semesters may result in withdrawal.

Navigate to Application Page
Click on “Application Process” under the “Information for” menu, then select “Postgraduate” from the left-hand side.
Start the Application
Click “Apply Now” and then “Start Application to Continue.” Select “Postgraduate” and complete the form.
Submit & Await Review
Submit your completed application. Applications are reviewed by the Central Admissions Committee. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
Admission Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
- Five (5) O’level credits including Mathematics and English Language
- Third Class Bachelor's degree from a recognized university
- HND with at least Upper Credit in relevant fields
- HND Lower Credit + 5 years post-qualification experience
- Other acceptable qualifications as approved by the Board and Senate
Master's Degrees
- Five (5) O’level credits including Mathematics and English Language
- First or Second Class Honours degree
- Third Class + relevant PGD with Upper Credit
- Other qualifications accepted by the Board
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
- Five (5) O’level credits including Mathematics and English Language
- Master’s degree with at least 3.50 CGPA or 60% average
- Equivalent qualifications from recognized universities
- Relevant professional experience (where required)
- Demonstrated intellectual capacity, maturity, and decision-making skills
